About

The Hardship Fund aims to assist students who experience unexpected financial difficulties due to circumstances which could not have been predicted at the start of their course. The fund opens from 1st September 2019 and is available on a first come first served basis subject to eligibility checks.

Eligibility

Students must meet the following eligibility criteria to obtain the NCL Hardship Fund:

  • Students can apply to the College Hardship Fund if they are experiencing unexpected and unforeseeable financial difficulties since the start of their course.
  • Students from disadvantaged backgrounds where genuine hardship is an issue.
  • Students must have paid the first instalment of their Student Tuition before applying to the Hardship Fund.

How to apply

  • Students are required to submit an application form along with a copy of your letter from Student Finance England showing how much student finance you’ll get and documents about your finances e.g. bank statements and rent details.
  •  You can collect the Hardship Fund application form from the Student Welfare Officers.
  •  Students can submit the application to either the Student Welfare Officer or via email to student.welfare@nelsoncollege.ac.uk

 

 

About

Bursaries support students through their studies by helping them with their general living costs. They are non-repayable and can be spent on anything from rent and household bills to books and specialist equipment. The fund opens from 1st September 2019 and is available on a first come first served basis subject to checks conducted by the College.

Eligibility

Care Leavers or Disabled Students must satisfy the following criteria to be eligible for the NCL bursary:

  • Have been in care (You will need proof of having been in care from an official source, such as a local authority).
  • Classified with a disability and learning difficulties (evidence from the GP or medical evidence will be required).
  • You must be a permanent resident in the UK and a home student for fee purposes.
  • You must be in receipt of the maximum Maintenance Loan as assessed by the Student Loans Company.
  • Student will have to be on the College disability register or care leaver register.

How to apply

  • Students are required to submit an application form with relevant evidence in order to be assessed for the Bursary Package.
  • You can collect the Bursary Package application form from the Student Welfare Officers.
  • Students can submit the application to either the Student Welfare Officer or via email to student.welfare@nelsoncollege.ac.uk
