Awarding bodies are responsible for setting the entry criteria for their programmes. Decisions on applications are made by admissions staff/tutors on behalf of the programme leader/head of academic services. For all programmes, the selection process will take into account:
1. The student’s potential to succeed in his or her chosen programme of study
2. Actual or expected academic or professional qualifications and grades
3. Relevant work or other experience
4. Where appropriate an interview
5. Evidence of proficiency in English

A student can make the application online or submit the completed application form to the office.

Application process:

A downloadable application form is available on the College website. The students are required to submit the hard copy of completed application to the college admission team. For quick processing of the application, it is necessary that all the mandatory information is provided on the form.

Selection Process:
Every candidate is required to attend a personal interview with the College’s admission team. An admission decision is made on the basis of student’s performance in the interview along with other information provided and tests wherever applicable.

The admission team takes following factors into account to make an admission decision:
1. The student’s potential to succeed in his or her chosen course/programme of study
2. Actual or expected academic or professional qualifications and grades
3. Relevant work or other experience
4. Performance in the interview
5. Evidence of proficiency in English

Registration:
Following the acceptance of the students on a course/programme, they are required to fill in an online registration form. The registration forms can be access using the following link

Enrolment:
Once a student is registered with the college, he/she is enrolled to the relevant courses/programmes as well as with the awarding body. Following the enrolment, students are provided with the login details to access VLE for teaching material and their personal email.

Process:
Where students believe that they possess sufficient prior knowledge about a unit or units, they can make an application for RPL.

Extract from the Recruitment, Selection and Admission Policy (Section 3):
• All prospective students (i.e. - candidate) must complete a College application form (electronic or hardcopy) and supply all relevant documents.
• All admission decisions are made by the admission team, which are then represented by persons nominated from academic and administration departments.
• All admission tutors/admission officers are trained, so that they can make a sound admission decision which is underpinned by reference to transparent and justifiable criteria.
• Admission decisions made by the admission officers of the College are fair, clear, explicit and are implemented consistently.
• To make the College admission policy and procedures clear and are followed fairly and consistently, the College will explicitly inform all potential students of entry requirements which are used in making the admission decision.
• All admission decisions will be made and communicated to students within reasonable time (e.g. - 2-4 weeks).
• Any potential student, who is unhappy about a decision made by the admission officer, can make an appeal to the College which should be reviewed by an independent admission officer.
• All admission policy and procedures to be reviewed every year and any changes to be consulted with those who are involved in making decisions, and who are responsible for delivering the courses/programmes.
• To support the College’s mission, it is the College’s policy not to create unnecessary barriers for students to pursue higher education qualifications. The overarching principle of the College is to assess whether a student is able and intend to complete the course/programme.

Extract from the Policy on Recognition of Prior Learning and Exemption (Section 2):
• Applications for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) can be made by students who do not hold formal qualifications but who are either in employment, preparing to enter, or returning to employment.
• Where units are assessed against assessment criteria or grading criteria, then all evidence must be evaluated using the stipulated criteria. In assessing a unit using RPL the assessor must be satisfied that the evidence produced by the learner meets the assessment standard established by the learning outcome and its related assessment criteria. The College must have personnel with appropriate expertise and knowledge to facilitate this.
• RPL can be used by students who have certificated learning; in this case the students should apply for exemption.
• In order to carry out RPL the College will ensure that:
a. Learners are registered as soon as they formally start to gather evidence;
b. Records of assessment are maintained, as for any other unit/qualification;
c. Certification and claims are made according to normal procedures;
d. All relevant evidence is assessed before assessment decisions are confirmed.

Admission decisions will be made as quickly as possible. However, where programmes attract large numbers of applications, there may inevitably be a delay, although every effort is made to keep this to a minimum.

In cases where the College is unable to make an offer for an applicant’s original choice of course, the applicant may be considered for an alternative or related programme.
